Scot Caviness - Bassist/part time vocal harmonist
Email Scot

I have played bass professionally for only a few years, but got my first bass in high school. I love a wide variety of music and chronologically have played in church for praise service, with a Christian band (BlueFish), and then most recently with acoustic acts, doing originals and covers – everything from Sarah Mclachlan to Bare Naked Ladies, with some Blues and Greatful Dead in there too.

I play electric and upright, and have had some experience in small studios and also setting up live PA equipment. I consider music with respect and humility, and hope to bring good solid accompaniment to a group. I’m not a flashy out front, solo type.

Greg Lilley - Drummer/Percussionist /Vocalist
Email Greg

Greg is a Cum Laude Graduate of Auburn University’s School of Product Design (1993). He helped finance his education by recalling years of private
instruction (Haskell Harr Drum Method), Symphonic, Jazz and Marching band training and then applying it in several working Country music bands. As he built a satisfying career designing furniture by day, Greg flew under Charlotte’s musical radar by night for years. Since moving to Charlotte in 1994, he has performed many styles of music, from R&B, Rock, Blues, Americana, Country, Swing, and Beach/Oldies, to Broadway musicals, theater
productions and Orchestra (tympani, percussion). In addition, he uses his design and business energy towards the promotion of his music projects. Near the beginning of 2002, Greg had enough opportunities to pursue music on a full-time basis.

Greg is currently playing with several other projects, including the original roots power trio "Lilley, Strauss & Schigoda" and "Lunatic Fringe", a freeform exploration of psychadelic rock, appalachian, swing/jazz and latin/african rhythms. Adding to the diversity, Greg is also is a member of the Columbia, SC based "Phil Urban & the Associates - Tribute to Elvis" show.

Greg always enjoys the challenge of the good ol' baptism-by-fire sub gig and is currently on the call lists of bands like the Texas/Western Swing band "The Stagglers", blues diva "Robin Rogers", Darlyne Cain, Willy Evans Trio and Trip Rodgers. And let's not forget the ton of fun that he, Scot and Amy always spin into a special experience for all.

"As I got older and sang and wrote more music, I stopped trying to become a better drummer and started concentrating on becoming a better musician. The plan had a flaw. The result was that I became a better drummer"-Greg Lilley

Jeff Willis - Drummer/Percussionist
Email Jeff

A product of growing up in the 60s, this Boomer Gen guy has been making music since the 7th grade, unless you count rhythm sticks at age 6. He listened to bluegrass early on, but found that they didn’t have banjos in the marching band, so became a drummer instead! Lessons from a burlesque pit band drummer and a former Met opera percussionist helped prepare Jeff for the world of marching, concert and stage bands in high school. In college, he played in a community musical theater orchestra and joined seminal rock band The Commands, later to become T.H.E., still playing today at their annual ‘revival’ weekends. He also began a multi-year annual excursion, into Jewel Recording Studios in Mt. Healthy, Ohio for some late night musical fun with T.H.E. guitar player and brother-in-law Karl Sjodahl (the producer of the latest Amy Broome Band CD), and friend and Playboy Club trio guitar and piano player Roger Trauth.

When drafted in ’69 and sent as an Army infantryman to Ft. Myer, Arlington, Virginia (Washington DC), fate stepped in. Jeff auditioned for and became Rudimentary Snare Drummer in the Old Guard Fife, Drum and Bugle Corps, playing at White House arrivals, rodeos, and a special appearance opening the Ed Sullivan Show in New York City in March of ’71. In the year after leaving the Army, Jeff played in the 17 Piece One Night Band, a group of 17 musicians-current or ex-members of the US Army and Navy-formed for a one night performance in the Hampton, VA National Guard Armory.

The next year he joined a company later to become Circuit City as an audio-video consultant, and was moved to Charlotte, NC in ’74, where he still makes his home. Musical experience in Charlotte includes bands Tumbling Walls, Bluefish (Christian blues band) and currently the Amy Broome Band, as well as irregular sit-ins with the Foundation jam guys and gals in Matthews. He also was fortunate to accompany other musicians on 2 mission trips in Mexico and Costa Rica.

Recently unplugged from his 31 year consumer electronic career path, Jeff haunts the musical scene, listening to live music at such places as the Evening Muse, Tosco Music Party, Double Door, the Visulite and Neighborhood Theaters, Smoky Joe’s Café, Amos’ Southend Bistro, the Grey Eagle in Ashville, NC and more. He likes Steely Dan, Flim and the BBs, James Brown, Susan Werner, No Doubt, Fourplay and others. And he owns a Martin autographed guitar but doesn’t (yet) know how to play it. “I was inspired to play the acoustic instruments of djembe, cajon, bongos, shaker, and other exotic instruments by percussion specialist Scotty Wagstaff, formerly of Tesser, still currently of Dollar Short. Support your local musicians!”

Music has always been a part of my life, but only in the last few years have I had the opportunity to perform as a singer songwriter. Most of my musical influences were from my father who not only took me to concerts starting at the age of five (Beach Boys) but also to local music venues including the Double Door. Barry, my dad, also plays guitar and as all good fathers, incouraged me to get a degree in computer science at UNC Charlotte. Thus I do have a "day" job that supports my greatest vice and love: music. Developing banking software by day and music every night. A dear comedian friend once promised me an eighth day for rest. Of course, if I had that extra day I would play and write.

Friends know that I am quiet and unassuming in social environments. I am not a social butterfly, but that makes the "entertainer" portion of performing a bit different, and uniquely real. If you want someone to say what you want to hear in place of the truth, I'm not your girl. My view is real and different and reflected in my music. Live life one day at a time, be responsible for your happiness and stop a minute to appreciate it. That's all I can hope to do.

I will always be passionate about music. As happy as I am with my life, and I truly am blessed by the God(s), I am constantly struggling and striving for success in my music. The fact that you are taking the time to read this helps in my success as does every time you ask about me and when I am going to play at your favorite bar, even when you clap after a song that you may not realize is an original or any song makes me stronger and better; thank you.
